Dutch Heart Foundation awards RadboudMC and #corsano #health a development project to recognize cardiac arrest and alert emergency services.

THE HAGUE, THE NETHERLANDS, December 6, 2021 -- #corsano #health B.V., a leading MedTech company developing, producing, and marketing medical grade continuous #health monitoring announced that it was awarded funds to develop a revolutionary solution to detect 'Unwitnessed Cardiac Arrest'. This call requests an innovative solution to improve recognition and implementation of resuscitation assistance for patients with Cardiac Arrest.

The Heart Foundation allocates € 928.278 to this project. #corsano CardioWatch 287 bracelets will signal a cardiac arrest and enable emergency services. This is very important, because many people who go into cardiac arrest outside the hospital have no witnesses. And then calling 112 is also not possible. This technological solution can then save lives!

Survival of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) depends on early recognition of Cardiac Arrest and initiation of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). To provide help as early as possible, mobile phone systems alerting citizens trained in CPR-delivery (HartslagNu) play an important role and have contributed to improved survival rates. To further shorten treatment delays, we will develop an algorithm that automatically detects a Cardiac Arrest to further improve resuscitation care. The data will be gathered from patients with Induced Circulatory Arrest by our partner in this call RadboudMC and 7 other collaborating Dutch Cardiac Arrest Hospitals. The #corsano CardioWatch 287 solution consists of development of a user-friendly, multifunctional wristband/watch that can detect Cardiac Arrest automatically and activate the emergency medical system, including the HartslagNu system.

"We are looking forward to develop this important solution and help saving lives!" said Drs. Peter Stas, CEO of #corsano #health.

Each year in The Netherlands alone, 17’000 cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital. For many victims, this happens without anyone being around who can provide and enlist help. According to international research, in about 60% of the cases there is no witness.

Corsano #health will develop a solution based on its CardioWatch 287 technology combined with fall detection and GPS. This will allow emergency services to be on site as quickly as possible. Civilian emergency workers who are alerted via the HartslagNu resuscitation system can also quickly find the right location.

The solution is expected to provide additional benefits for women. They are more likely to have a cardiac arrest without a witness present. This may be because women are more likely to live alone than men, especially when they are older. Research has also shown that women are less likely to be resuscitated by bystanders. It is unclear why.

The Heart Foundation finances the project from the PPP allowance made available to the Heart Foundation by the Top Sector Life Sciences & #health (Health~Holland) to stimulate public-private partnerships.
